Proper Oil Change Interval

One of the biggest myths that refuses to die is vehicles should get their oil changed every 3,000 miles. There are cars on the road that have oil change intervals upwards of 8,000 miles.

For example, a 2012 Ford Fusion can go up to 10,000 miles before it needs an oil change, for a lot of drivers that means about one oil change per year.

Granted if you are driving a busted ride from the late 1980’s that escaped Cash for Clunkers this may be true.

You should check the owners manual for the interval. The State of California set up a webpage www.calrecycle.ca.gov/UsedOil/OilChange to make it painless to find out.
